Riesling

Zeer minerale Großes Gewächs. Krachtige Riesling met een kruidige structuur en toch rijk aan finesse met intense geuren van wijngaardperzik, abrikoos, zoete meloen en mango ondersteund door de typische kruidenkruiden van de Steinbuckel Rieslings. Deze geur zet zich voort in de smaak en wordt afgerond met een delicate, smeltende fruitzoetheid.

Deze Riesling-druiven worden als hele trossen ongedeerd op de wijnpers gezet, waarna de maceratie gedurende ca. 12 uur plaatsvindt.Na een spontane gisting met natuurlijke gisten gedurende enkele weken wordt de wijn tot kort voor het bottelen op de droesem bewaard.

De wijnstokken zijn afkomstig van het kalksteenrif in de “Steinbuckel”-wijngaard, een koelere locatie die op een kleine heuvel ligt. Kalksteen die werd gebruikt om huizen te bouwen, werd uit de grond geplukt of eenvoudigweg uit de bovenste laag grond gebroken. Hieruit blijkt hoe hoog het aandeel zogenaamde tertiaire kalksteen op deze typisch noordelijke Paltslocatie is.

Riesling

Highly mineral Großes Gewächs. Powerful Riesling with a spicy structure, yet rich in finesse with intense scents of vineyard peach, apricot, sweet melon and mango backed by the typical herbal spice of the Steinbuckel Rieslings. This scent continues in the taste and is rounded off by a delicate, melting fruit sweetness.

These Riesling grapes are put on the wine press unharmed as whole bunches, after which maceration takes place for approx. 12 hours. After spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts for several weeks, the wine is stored on the lees until shortly before bottling. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks.

The vines come from the limestone reef in the “Steinbuckel” vineyard, a cooler location that lies on a small hill. Limestone used to build houses used to be picked from the ground or simply broken from the upper layer of soil. This shows how high the proportion of so-called tertiary limestone is in this typically northern Palatinate location.
